Analyzing the detailed genetic diversity among distinct human populations can be biomedically informative. To these ends, we have now expanded the record of human genetic diversity to include ethnic Mongolians from six representative tribes. This new reference panel fills an important gap in the coverage provided by the 1000G project and significantly improves our ability to impute missing genotypes, which will aid future genome-wide association studies for Mongolians and less studied populations in North and East Asia.
