Project name: Tetrapedia diversipes
Description: Tetrapedia diversipes is an oil-collecting bee from the Neotropical region. It is an outstanding model of solitary bee species to solve genetic, ecological, physiological, and evolutionary questions. Interesting features of this species include: the host-parasite relationship with the cleptoparasitic bee species Coelioxoides waltheriae; the presence of the endosymbiont Wolbachia; the sharing of a common ancestor with the sub-social lineages from Xylocopinae; and the existence of prepupae diapause during the colder and drier months (June through August).
