Project name: Haemorhous mexicanus isolate:bHaeMex1
Description: The house finch (Haemorhous mexicanus) is a bird in the finch family Fringillidae. It is native to western North America and has been introduced to the eastern half of the continent and Hawaii. This sample was procured by Amberleigh Henschen and used to generate a high-quality reference genome for the Vertebrate Genomes Project (VGP). The project was coordinated by James S. Adelman of the University of Memphis. Sequencing and genome assembly were conducted at the Vertebrate Genomes Lab (VGL) at the Rockefeller University, led by Olivier Fedrigo and Erich D. Jarvis.
