Project name: Passiflora edulis cultivar:Tom's Special
Description: Passiflora edulis, which in many countries goes by the common name Passionfruit (or passion fruit), is grown commercially in tropical and subtropical regions, for fruit production for human consumption. Tom's Special is a particular passion fruit selection in Australia of unknown pedigree that has good disease resistance properties and has been used in crossing programs in Australia for many years, Tom's Special has been a parent of a number of commercially successful passionfruit varieties. It is considered likely that Tom's Special is either a hybrid between the two P. edulis forms or is a first-generation backcross, and is a highly heterozygous scion. We report on DNA sequencing, gene space assembly, and variant annotation of Tom's Special.
