Project name: Apis cerana isolate:YRUPSC-2021
Description: The native honeybee from the Aba prefecture of Chinese Western Sichuan Plateau which sits on the southeast edge of the famous Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, named Apis cerana abansis, usually present distinguishable morphological characteristics while comparing to other ecological types of Asian honeybees. The morphological indexes of those honeybees in Aba prefecture, such as proboscis length, area of forewing, the third and the fourth notum, are known to be the larger body size than other Apis cerana. Several recent studies have proved that the native honeybees in Western Sichuan Plateau, from the distinct genetic group due to the highland geographic isolation, based on the population genomic analysis. Hence, the Apis cerana in western Sichuan plateau has been considered as an excellent model to study the phenotype and genetic variation for highland adaptation of Asian honeybee.
