Description: Bordetella atropi was isolated from a wild isolate of the nematode Oscheius tipulae. This bacterium is a facultative intracellular pathogen that uses filamentation to spread between neighboring intestinal cells. The genome will be used to help elucidate the genetic mechanisms behind this in vivo filamentation and determine the conservation of this phenotype in other bacterial pathogens.
