Project name: Passiflora edulis
Description: Among the various species of fruit native to Brazil, passion fruit (Passiflora sp.) stands out for being species that have a set of attractive features for the market, organized germplasm banks and genetic improvement programs that can be strongly enhanced by the targeted application of genomic tools integrated with phenotyping methodologies. This is the focus of this research, which aims to boost the conservation and improvement of these species through the development of advanced genomic resources, strongly integrated with the germplasm and breeding characterization and improvement programs underway in Brazil. This project involves the generation of genome assembly and annotation for passion fruit (Passiflora edulis Sims). In addition, the project will apply analysis tools to the genetic characterization and breeding of tropical fruit trees planted in dozens of tropical countries.
