Project name: Acidiphilium multivorum strain:LMS
Description: Acidiphilium multivorum strain LMS is an acidophilic thermotolerant bacterium isolated from industrial bioreactors during the processing of gold-containing sulfidic concentrates. Although most strains of this species are organoheterotrophs that do not use ferrous iron, elemental sulfur, and thiosulfate as energy sources, the strain LMS is able to oxidize reduced sulfur compounds. This strain plays a crucial role in microbial communities of industrial bioleaching operations.
