Description: This study concerns the characterization of Pantoea vegans - endophytic bacteria isolated from Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni seeds and assessment of its effect on germination. Stevia is an important plant due to production of steviol glycosides, however in view of low germinability, propagation by seeds is not the widespread method for stevia commercial production. Recently carried studies indicated that endophytic bacteria might increase the rate of seed germination.
