Project name: Raoultella ornithinolytica
Description: The objective of this study was to compare the only three R. ornithinolytica harboring the blaOXA-48 described in Ecuador and to characterize the plasmid involved. The plasmid carrying the blaOXA-48 gene is similar in the three isolates. Probably blaOXA-48 is associated with this plasmid because it has been reported in others blaOXA-48-enterobacteriacea. The Ecuadorian National Health System allows patients to be transferred from one hospital to another, which could be the cause of the spread of this resistant strain (isolated of three different hospital), or probably the strain come from to same source of environment.
