Project name: Lactococcus lactis

Description: Lactococcus lactis type strains are sequenced in this project. Two of them (Lactococcus lactis subsp. cremoris DPC140 and Lactococcus lactis subsp. cremoris DPC169) are isolated from dairy sources. The other two strains (Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis DPC6756 and Lactococcus lactis subsp. cremoris DPC6855) are isolated from non-dairy sources: green peas and grass, respectively. The goal of this project is to compare strains from both types (dairy and non-dairy) and to find new capabilities within the non-dairy group of strains.
