Project name: Musa acuminata subsp. acuminata
Description: This study aims to elucidate the transcriptome profile of banana roots challenged with both iron deficiency and excess under hydroponic conditions for three days. The data would provide insight into: 1) The genes differentially regulated under the above-mentioned iron stresses at a 3 day time point. 2) The strategy followed by banana, a non-graminaceous monocot, for iron acquisition from the rhizosphere. The work would aid in selecting the most appropriate candidate genes towards implementation in future studies concerning iron biofortification of this economically important food crop.
