Project name: Rhizobial and non/mycorrhizal Medicago truncatula roots and shoots transcriptome
Description: Plant species posses a special set of genes functional only in arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis. So, the model plant Medicago truncatula (Jemalong 5) was used for transcriptome comparative analysis while infected with compatible rhizobia Sinorhizobium meliloti (strain 10) and with or without arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus Rhizophagus irregularis (SYM5). Whole shoot and whole root were used for RNA isolation and processed via one of the European certified Affymetrix core labs (http://core.img.cas.cz).Overall design: 6 pots of Medicago truncatula (3 plants per pot processed as single unit) were harvested 35 days post planting (dpp). All rhizobial (Sinorhizobium meliloti) and half nonmycorrhizal (NM, i.e. negative control), half mycorrhizal (M) by Rhizophagus irregularis. Whole roots (3NM and 3M) and whole shoots (3NM and 3M) processed to RNA isolation.
