Project name: Enterococcus faecium strain:ME3
Description: Enterococcus faceium, is a member of genus Enterococcus, a gram positive, catalase negative bacteria with individual, paired, or short-chain cocci.Enterococcus faecium strain MRE3, was isolated from heavily polluted Delhi stretch of river Yamuna, India, during a resistance surveillance study of urban aquatic environment in 2013. E.faecium MRE3 was tested for the antibiotic susceptibility and found resistant to a range of antibiotics including ampicillin, ampicillin/sulbactam, aztreonam, ceftazidime, cefotetan, cefotaxime, ceftriaxone, cefoxitin, cefuroxime, cefazolin, ertapenem, imipenem, ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, plymixin B, rifampicin, tetracyclin, amikacin, tobramycin and trimethoprim. The isolate showed extended spectrum β-lactamase phenotype with high level of tolerance for mercuric chloride ( ≥ 2mg/L).
