Description: Whole genome-sequencing in bacterial genomics is obligatory phase before valorisation and commercialization of Lactic acid bacteria new isolates (LAB). Recently, a R.A73 Enterococcus faecium strain was isolated from mucus of Tilapia Oreochromis niloticus collected from the Abid dams, in Tunisia (ljeni et al., 2015).The present study focuses on sequencing its DNA and assembling the whole genome. The genomic DNA has been extracted using the Quick-GDNA kit (Zymoresearch) and used for NGS sequening with the Illumina HiSeq2500 system. Sequence quality assessment was conducted with FastQC software. The full genome annotation was done with RAST Web Server. The R.A73 strain genome was assembled in 28 contigs consisting 2,935,283 bp. In total, the genome annotation showed 2,884 genes. There are 2834 genes encoding sequences with a total of 50 rRNAs containing the 16s rRNA, 23s rRNA and 5s rRNAs.Seven genes implicated in bacteriocin production are identified within R.A73 genome. Progress is ongoing for R&D development and its exploitation at manufacturing and/or industrial levels. Studying their metabolism with Bioinformatic tools represents the future challenge aiming to improve its utilization as food additive.
