Project name: Glycine max cultivar:Zhonghuang 13
Description: As soybean has undergone genetic bottleneck during cultivation, accessions in different geographies exhibit extensive genetic diversity. China is the origin of soybean, however the current soybean reference genome were sequenced for an accession mainly adapted in America, it may not be suitable for soybean research in Asia. Here we elucidated the genome of a Chinese soybean accession Zhonghuang 13 through the integration of SMRT, Hi-C and optical mapping data and obtained one of the most comprehensive plant genome to date. The genome we assembled has much longer contig N50 (3.46M vs 0.18M) and less gaps (815 vs 12,761) than the current soybean reference genome. In addition, 52,051 protein coding genes were annotated for this new genome.
