Description: we designate a previously uncharacterized GBS protein as biofilm regulatory protein A, encoded by brpA, based on its sequence and phenotypic similarities to S. mutans BrpA (also referred to as LytR, PMID: 15699211). We describe a critical role for BrpA in regulation of chain length, biofilm formation, and survival against whole blood and neutrophil-mediated killing, as well as genome-wide transcriptional consequences to BrpA-deficiency. We compare the transcriptome of the brpA mutant with the wild-type strain, each in two biological replicates
