Project name: Xanthomonas phaseoli pv. phaseoli strain:CFBP6164
Description: Common bacterial blight of bean is due to strains from either Xanthomonas phaseoli pv. phaseoli (Xpp) or Xanthomonas citri pv. fuscans (Xcf). This seed-borne disease is worldwide distributed and is responsible for serious economic damages to the bean production. This justifies that this bacterial pathogen is classified in quarantine lists in countries that are still disease-free. We provided genomes sequenced by single molecule real time (SMRT) sequencing for 17 Xpp and Xcf strains. Causal agents of common bacterial blight are phylogenetically diverse and these genomes will help to gain more informations on the determinants of host adaptation. In particular, SMRT sequencing will allow the analysis of complex genes containing internal repeats such as Transcription Activator-Like (TAL) effectors.
