Project name: Fusarium circinatum strain:FSP34
Description: Species within the Fusarium fujikuroi complex have a conserved haploid number of twelve chromosomes. The smallest of these (chromosome 12) is known to be dispensable (both inter- and intraspecifically), have low sequence homology, and as such, forms part of the accessory genome of members of this species complex. Whole-genome sequencing has failed to identify chromosome 12 in Fusarium circinatum, also known as the pitch canker fungus, a disease of susceptible Pinus spp. In this study, chromosome 12 of F. circinatum was sequenced and characterized.
