Description: Enterococcus faecium U0317. Enterococcus faecium U0317 was isolated from a urinary tract infection of a hospitalized patient in 2005 in Utrecht, the Netherlands. This strain has MLST sequence type (ST) 78 and carries the esp gene. The genome sequences of E. faecium strains isolated from different environmental niches will lead to the identification of genes and genetic elements that have been acquired by hospital-adapted strains and may contribute to virulence. Enterococcus faecium U0317 will be used for comparative analysis with other Enterococcus faecium strains.
