Description: Enterococcus faecium E1636. Enterococcus faecium E1679 was isolated from a vascular catheter tip in 1998 in Brazil. This strain has MLST sequence type (ST) 114 and is vancomycin resistant. The genome sequences of E. faecium strains isolated from different environmental niches will lead to the identification of genes and genetic elements that have been acquired by hospital-adapted strains and may contribute to virulence.
