Project name: Nicrophorus vespilloides
Description: N. vespilloides is used as a model species for the evolutionary study of complex social behaviors; such as, parental care, sibling competition, and social competition. In sequencing, assembling, and analyzing the genome, we hoped to make this species genetically tractable to open questions about the molecular underpinnings of the behaviors of interest. We also characterized if there was DNA methylation in this beetle.
