Description: Stabilizing mutations are of potential relevance to the molecular evolution of influenza proteins. Here we are assessing deep mutational scanning as a method for mapping stabilizing mutations across the primary sequence of the influenza hemagglutinin gene. The gene from A/WSN/1933 (H1N1) influenza was mutagenized and used to produce viruses. Viruses were passaged through cell culture, and the pre- and post- passage populations were sequenced with controls. A full description of the experiment and analysis will accompany the release of the paper.
