Project name: Methanosarcina barkeri str. Fusaro

Description: The goal of this study was to determine the mutations present in a pyruvate-metabolizing mutant of the methanogenic archaeon Methanosarcina barkeri Fusaro. In addition, it was our interest to determine the changes in gene expression of the strain. Genomic sequencing and transcriptomic analysis revealed new insights on gene regulation and how methanogens can modulate their central carbon metabolism to perform methanogenesis.
