Description: The present study was undertaken in order to assess the heritability of virulence to pine in F. circinatum by determining the extent to which it was possible to shift the distribution of virulence phenotypes through selection for either low or high virulence. To this end, two F1 progeny manifesting high virulence were used as parents to produce an F2 generation, followed by an additional round of selection using the same criteria to produce an F3 generation. A parallel experiment was performed in which parents were selected based on low virulence.
