Project name: Blastomonas sp. AAP25
Description: Aerobic photoheterotrophs (AAPs) are a functional group of bacteria that can utilize sun light to produce ATP, thus providing additional energy source. They are widely distributed in the oxygen-containing niches that light can reach. How their phototrophic capability evolved is largely unknown. We isolated various AAP strains from freshwater lakes and sequenced their genomes with the aim to address this question.
