Description: Thalassolituus oleivorans is a highly specialized marine hydrocarbonoclasticbacteria, a predominant hydrocarbon degrader from polluted sites inBarents sea. Thalassolituus strains make up from 10 to 30 % fromtotal number of culturable oil-degrading bacteria. These bacteria areeasily isolated on ONR7, a medium with alkanes and cannot grow onother substrates. This strain was isolated by Novikov A and Shatalov A, during Barentssea expedition.
