Project name: Xanthomonas citri pv. glycines CFBP 7119
Description: Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. glycines, causes a serious disease, bacterial pustule, on soybean that reduces yield and crop quality. This disease occurs during warm and wet weather. The pathogen overwinters in unburied crop residue and can be seed-transmitted. Other hosts, such as snap bean, are recorded. Leaf symptoms include small, pale green spots with elevated pustules, which may develop into large necrotic lesions leading to premature defoliation. Small spots may also develop on pods. Despite high level of resistance in some culivars, the impact of the disease remains high in many parts of the world.
