Project name: Poecilia latipinna
Description: Poecilia latipinna (Sailfin molly) and Poecilia mexicana (Altantic molly) are thought to be the parental species for Poecilia formosa. A mating of these species is believed to have taken place about ~200,000 years ago to create the P. formosa species. This sequence data will help establish the origins of the descendants that arose from this rare hybridization event between two species.
