Project name: Enterococcus faecium L3 strain:L3
Description: Enterococcus faecium is a Gram-positive commensal of the human and animal gastrointestinal tract. Some E.faecium strains are used as probiotics. They are proved to be effective and safe. However E.faecium is known to cause nosocomial infections in immunocompromised patients. So the use of E.faecium as probiotic always raises questions despite the long history of its use as probiotic. The goal of our study is to perform the genome sequencing of probiotic and non-probiotic E.faecium strains and to find the differences and distinctive features in probiotic and non-probiotic E.faecium genomes.
