Description: The genome of Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. mycoides strain Gemu Goffa was sequenced as part of the EVOLMYCO initiative funded by The French National Research Agency (ANR). This project aims to study the evolution of ruminant mycoplasmas with a special focus on horizontal gene transfer. Strain Gemu Goffa from Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. mycoides was isolated in 1974 in Ethiopia.
