Project name: Zea mays
Description: In any linkage mapping effort some of the probes examined are monomorphic in the parents of the mapping population. However no probe is monomorphic among all possible parents. Thus mapping candidate genes in mapping populations where the parents in one population are distantly related to the parent of another population allows greater opportunity to map the maximum number of candidate genes. In this effort by INRA candidate genes were mapped in 94 lines in the intermated recombinant inbred population derived from 'B73' x 'Mo17' and 94 lines in the intermated recombinant inbred population derived from 'F2' x 'F252'. The candidate genes were mapped by RFLP, SSR, and SSLP techniques.
