Description: Introgressing traits requires mapping the trait with a mapping population produced with the source of trait as one of the parents. Various isolates of Solanum hirsutum exhibit desired resistance to tomato pathogens. A mapping population of 1600 BC1 plants was derived from Solanum lycopersicum x Solanum hirsutum. The plants were genotyped with RFLP markers and PCR using primers designed to conserved motifs of known resistance genes.
