Project name: Solanum lycopersicum

Description: Solanum pimpinellifolium is a source of genetic diversity in tomato breeding. In that the tomato linkage maps are produced using a Solanum lycopersicum x Solanum pennellii cross the question remains whether the choice of the breeding parent influences the linkage map of the tomato genome. A BC1 population of 119 individuals was created with tomato as the recurrent parent from Solanum lycopersicum x Solanum pimpinellifolium. The plants were genotyped with tomato cDNA probes and tomato random genomic DNA probes.
