Project name: Kazachstania servazzii strain:CBS 4311
Description: In a large-scale comparative genomics analysis of hemiascoymycetes yeasts, the Genolevures Consortium partially sequenced the genomes of 13 yeasts, including that of Saccharomyces servazzii strain CBS 4311. For each species, they prepared a random genomic DNA library containing 3- to 5-kb inserts and performed single-pass sequencing (up to 1 kb) of both ends of the inserts, resulting in random sequence tags (RSTs). The Genolevures Consortium generated 2,570 RSTs, totaling 2.3 Mb and representing approximately 0.2X genome coverage, for Saccharomyces servazzii. They assembled these sequences into contigs and annotated them based on sequential comparisons to DNA and protein sequences from Saccharomyces cerevisiae, protein sequences from other completely sequenced organisms, and protein sequences from all other organisms. The Saccharomyces servazzii sequences are available in GenBank/EMBL/DDBJ under the accessions AL402279 to AL404848.
