Project name: Apis mellifera strain:DH4
Description: The ~200 Mb honey bee genome was sequenced by the Baylor College of Medicine (BCM-HGSC) using a whole genome shotgun (WGS) approach. The sequence, assembly and analysis of the honey bee genome by the Honeybee Genome Sequencing Consortium was published in Nature in October of 2006. Additional links to Nature, companion journals and other resources can be found at the Honey Bee Genome Publication and Press Portal. Subsequent revisions to the assembly have incorporated Sanger, 454, and SOLiD sequencing and improvements to the linkage map.
