Description: Here we present the draft genome sequence of Ccy74, a strain of Capnocytophaga cynodegmi. Genome analysis confirms a very close relationship between C. cynodegmi and C. canimorsus that contrasts with the pathogenic features exclusively found in the latter. Comparative genomics among these species provided some understanding on how Capnocytophaga species may switch from dog commensals to human pathogens.
