Project name: Solanum lycopersicum
Description: Increasing fruit yield per tomato plant is important but challenging because the mechanism of sink-to-source translocation from leaves to fruits, which is a key step for fruit development, remains largely unclear. The use of light emitting diode (LED) light in strictly-controlled conditions can reduce the metabolic impacts in tomato samples derived from environmental fluctuations. We thus can obtain high-quality metabolomic and transcriptmic data to understand the translocation mechanisms. Particularly, metabolites are produced through transcriptional and translational events, and can be regarded as the closest phenotype correlated to visual phenotype(s), e.g., fruit size.
