Project name: Protopterus annectens
Description: Because of the enormous genome size of lungfish, the entire genome has not yet been decoded. Therefore, it is difficult to search and identify the orthologous genes in the lungfish genome using blast. In order to construct a cDNA library that can be used for blast search, we performed de novo assembly using RNA read data extracted from the lungfish tissue (olfactory organ). The cDNA library constructed by de novo assembly was used not only to determine whether the orthologous genes specific to the tetrapod pheromone-receptor organ VNO are also expressed in the lungfish olfactory organ and whether they are present in the lungfish genome in the first place, but also to examine the repertoire of pheromone receptor genes in the lungfish genome.
