Project name: Monascus purpureus
Description: Monascus purpureus was also known as a traditional expediently filamentous fungi due to the utilization of their substances. In this study, M. purpureus strain KUPM5 was used as parental strain to induced mutation by synchrotron light irradiation in order to develop an ideal strain rising the MK productivity. This study provided the synchrotron light irradiation had efficient for strain improvement and showed the varieties of mutation patterns compared to the parental strain KUPM5.
