Project name: Sporomusa sp. GT1
Description: Sporomusa sp. GT1, a bacterium belonging to the phylum Firmicutes, was isolated from rice paddy field soil by using metallic iron (Fe(0)) granules as the sole electron donor. Strain GT1 grow acetogenetically in the presence of Fe(0) + CO2 and enhances iron corrosion. However, the molecular mechanism underlying the biological corrosion is still unknown. In this project, we aimed to reveal the gene composition of strain GT1 and to perform comparative genomics in order to determine candidate gene(s) which potentially involved in the biological corrosion.
