Description: Enterococcus faecium is a Gram-positive, alpha hemolytic or nonhemolytic bacterium in the genus Enterococcus. It can be commensal (innocuous, coexisting organism) in the human intestine, but it may also be pathogenic, causing diseases such as neonatal meningitis. We want to find some mutations of the strain placed in the radiation environment of outer space. Culture of Enterococcus faecium CGMCC 1.2136 that spent 17 days in space aboard the Shenzhou 8 spacecraft and collected Nov-2011.
