Kinase insert domain receptor (KDR) is a gene that encodes a protein that functions as a type III receptor tyrosine kinase of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). The protein regulates VEGF-induced endothelial proliferation, survival, migration, tubular morphogenesis, and sprouting. Missense mutations, nonsense mutations, silent mutations, frameshift deletions and insertions, and in-frame deletions are observed in cancers such as intestinal cancer, lung cancer, and skin cancer.
