Description: The goal of this study was to characterize the bacterial communities in the cervicovaginal mucus of HPV-infected Mexican women with cervical ectopy. To achieve this goal, we conducted a cross-sectional study by sampling the cervicovaginal mucus and using 16S ribosomal RNA (16sRNA) targeted sequencing. Cervicovaginal bacterial community changes that occur in HPV positive individuals are important to understand, as they are potentially linked with chronic inflammation and the development of cervical lesions.
