Description: Japanese lamprey (Lethenteron japonicum) represents one of the most basal groups of vertebrates, the cyclostomes. It has a genome size smaller than that of the sea lamprey and is a good model genome for studying the origin and evolution of vertebrates. Here we report the germline genome assembly of the Japanese lamprey.
