Description: Genus Cuscuta comprises of a group of parasitic dicotyledonous plants that attach to other plants using their vines. Vines are yellow to orange in color and lack roots or expanded leaves. Cuscuta vines produce haustoria which penetrate and fuse with the host tissue to absorb nutrients. They exhibit high chromosome divergence with chromosome numbers ranging from 2n=8 to 2n=60.
