De novo assembly of transcriptome from Abiu (Pouteria caimito) using long-read sequencing. The abiu fruit is particularly susceptible to browning symptoms, and it causes decreasing of the fruit quality and shelf life. The changing of gene expression involved in fruit browning symptom can be identified through a transcriptome sequencing technology approach, and it have been widely studied in fruit browning symptoms.

Project name: Transcriptomics from Abiu (Pouteria caimito)
Description: The abiu is a tropical plant that has been introduced and developed in Indonesia. The abiu fruit tastes sweet, and it contains beneficial nutrients for human body. However, abiu fruit is particularly susceptible to browning symptoms, and it causes decreasing of the fruit quality and shelf life. The changing of gene expression involved in fruit browning symptom can be identified through a transcriptome sequencing technology approach. The study aimed was to identify candidates of internal browning genes in abiu fruit. The genes associated with browning symptoms in abiu fruit are identified. The results of this research were expected to provide more accurate information on molecular internal browning mechanism in abiu fruit. The study was carried out through RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq).
