Project name: IntercropExpAMF
Description: This is an intercropping field experiment, conducted in Lüneburg, Germany (53° 12’N and 10° 22’E ). Three crops were grown in monoculture and in pairwise intercropping. The crops were two mycorrhizal crops, the leguminous faba bean (Vicia faba L.cv. Tiffany) and the cereal maize (Zea mays L.cv. Colisee), and one non-mycorrhizal crop, the leguminous lupine (Lupinus albus L.cv. Energy). A second phase consisted of growing winter barley (Hordeum vulgare L.cv. Antonella, Nordsaat Saatzucht) in the same plots. AMF diversity was analyzed with paired-end Illumina MiSeq sequencing of LSU sequences (primers LR2rev-LR3) in the root system of each crop, in monoculture or intercropping, and in the second crop rotation phase.
