Description: The gut microbiota characteristics of snub-nosed monkeys endemic to China under the same captive conditions have not been reported. In this study, high-throughput sequencing was used to explore the similarities and differences in gut microbiota composition and functions of captive Rhinopithecus bieti, R. brelichi, and R. roxellana monkeys in Beijing Zoo. Monitoring changes in the gut microbiota of captive snub-nosed monkeys can provide data for disease surveillance and dietary adjustment in order to better protect the endangered monkeys.
