Project name: Antirrhinum majus
Description: The garden snapdragon, Antirrhinum majus, has been a model system for genetics for much of the 20th century. The first effort to develop a molecular recombination map used an interspecific cross. The resulting map showed distorted transmission for the majority of the markers which suggested that mapping known classical genes in such a mapping population would likely lead to errors. Thus an intraspecific mapping population was developed and a molecular recombination map produced.
